Lilyponds Park
Once a swamp, the Lilyponds area has been transformed into a vibrant community park. This picturesque space offers a variety of amenities, including free barbecues, a children’s playground, an exercise station, and covered seating areas. With ample room to run and play, it’s a perfect spot for families and pets.
Lilyponds Park: Off Leash Dog Park
In 2022, the Sunshine Coast Council designated an off-leash dog area within the Lilyponds park.
Mapleton Observatory
Located in the grounds of the Mapleton State School and is open for viewing the heavens. Book through their website.
RSL Park
Mapleton RSL Park beside the Tavern has recently been refurbished to recognise those men and women from Mapleton and District who have served in the Defence Forces.
Walk: Gheerulla Falls
Gheerulla Falls is a hidden gem near Mapleton. It’s a beautiful waterfall with clear water, perfect for swimming. You can reach the falls with a short, easy walk. It’s a peaceful place to relax and enjoy nature.
Walk: Linda Garrett Circuit
At the start of the walk is a large information board and shelter marking the starting point of many walks, including a section of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk. Walk 50m to the Mapleton Falls lookout. The viewing platform offers a stunning view towards the Mary River Valley and the dramatic 120-metre Pencil Creek Falls.
