The Montville Village Association (MVA) has been actively engaged in a project titled “Montville: Its Future is in Your Hands,” aimed at addressing key issues and defining the future of the Montville community. The project commenced in late 2023 following a review of a discussion paper by the MVA Management Committee.
In January 2024, the Management Committee held a workshop to explore challenges facing Montville. By May 2024, a 22-point paper, derived from the workshop, was presented and subsequently condensed into four key areas: Montville Hall, Memorial Precinct, Montville Liveability, and the MVA itself. This consolidated work was presented at the June 2024 MVA General Meeting, where strong support was expressed for a community survey.
From August to December 2024, a survey, available both electronically and in hard copy, was conducted to gather community input. The MVA Management Meeting in January 2025 resulted in the adoption of an implementation plan, “Plan 2025,” which was then outlined at the January MVA General Meeting. The plan’s initial phase included a presentation of survey results at the February MVA General Meeting, followed by a community-wide forum scheduled for June 8th.
Survey Results and Participation
The survey, conducted between August and December 2024, was widely promoted, with access provided through online QR codes and hard copies at the Montville Village Hall and the Montville Markets. The survey garnered 107 responses.
Based on the 2021 Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) census, the Montville area has a population of 1,092, with 947 residents aged 15 and over. Using these figures, the survey achieved a response rate of 11.29% (based on the 15+ population) or 9.7% (based on the total population). These response rates are considered robust and provide a solid foundation for the community forum.
This document presents the survey results with minimal commentary, allowing readers to form their own interpretations. Community feedback and further discussion are encouraged.

Montville and what its future should be. It is a part of a Montville Village Association’s project commenced in 2023 including a survey that attracted 10 % of the community to respond providing a credible base upon which to act.
The Forum will target What we want Montville to be in ten years and will:
- identify areas to be addressed
- prioritise areas.
- produce a suggested timeline for implementing changes with specific targeted end
dates. - identify teams to follow through and report back to the community.
