The recently reopened Nambour cinema is not only screening the latest blockbusters but also a selection of arthouse and foreign films. In collaboration with director of Nambour cinéma, Luke Warburton, and “Sunshine Coast French film festival” organiser, Murray Power, the cinema will be screening some amazing French, Italian, and other international films.
This year’s Summer French Film Festival, a collaboration between the Sunshine Coast Film Festival and the Alliance Française de la Sunshine Coast, boasts a diverse program showcasing the best of French and French-backed films. Range film lovers are in for a treat, with a selection of critically acclaimed and thought-provoking films screening at their local cinema.

The festival extends beyond Nambour, with screenings also taking place in Noosa and Caloundra.
Festival History:
The Sunshine Coast French Film Festival began in 2008 when the Alliance Française Sunshine Coast started screening selections from the annual Alliance Française French Film Festival. This initiative aimed to bring the festival’s delights to local film lovers and francophiles, eliminating the need to travel to major cities.
Screenings commenced in Noosa and Nambour, expanding to Caloundra in 2017. The initiative proved popular among both French and English speakers, as well as foreign language film enthusiasts. Partnerships with the Noosa Film Society and the Caloundra Film Festival were formed to further promote film and French culture on the Sunshine Coast.
The Sunshine Coast French Film Festival has now evolved into an independent festival, recognized as the largest regional French Film Festival in Australia. It is currently operated by the Sunshine Coast Film Festival and sponsored by the Alliance Française Sunshine Coast.
