The Mapleton Tramway

The Mapleton Tramway was a railway line that operated in the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia, from 1915 to 1944. Built by the Moreton Central Sugar Mill, its primary purpose was to transport sugar cane from the farms on the range down to Nambour. However, it also served as a public carrier for people, mail, papers, and other goods. The tramway ran daily, except on Sundays, and the journey from Nambour to Mapleton took approximately two and a half hours, offering passengers breathtaking views of the ocean and the hinterland.

22nd Aug 2023 Dulong Creek Run Off Incident

Following concerns raised by residents, the community was informed of an incident during maintenance works on Dulong School Road (14th June ’23), where a substance runoff into Dulong Creek which feeds the Maroochy River, occurred, prompting an apology from the council. Despite implementing control measures, a portion of an environmentally friendly erosion control product, GRT Enviro Binder, entered the creek.
