The annual Sculpture on the Edge event, hosted by Arts Connect, once again captivated audiences with its stunning display of creativity and innovation. Held at the picturesque Flaxton Gardens, the 15th iteration of this renowned exhibition showcased over 100 captivating sculptures crafted from a diverse range of materials, including wood, metal, resin, ceramics, glass, and even found and reclaimed objects.
From towering outdoor installations to intricate indoor pieces, the exhibition offered a visual feast for art enthusiasts of all ages. Visitors had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of sculpture through a series of engaging workshops, where they could learn new techniques and unleash their own artistic potential.
The 2024 Sculpture on the Edge event began with the announcement of the competition winners:
Sculptor of the Year: Jean Bennett for “Dance of Love”
Highly Commended Sculptor: Finn Cossar for “Equilibrium”
Local Sculptor: Elli Schlunke for “The Mould, Generic Human”
Upcycle Sculptor: Denise Lamby and Peter Tilney for “Giant Ironbark Contribution”
Encouragement Awards went to – Damian Berrili with “Sage” and Dawid Szymczyk with “Hegemon and Pretender”.
